Changes are that you indeed have a corrupt romset or that you still haven't configurated your rom path.
About good keybord games, try shooters and puzzlers.
-Blazing star, Sonic wings are shooters.
-Puzzle bobble, Magical drop are both puzzle games.
-Metal slug, cyber lip, eight man are all platform/shooters.
All these can be played pretty good with a keybord and are good games to start with.
