The prototypes are just slightly different from their real counterparts.
The MOTW prototype has Grant and Kain selectable without a code
The KOF99 prototype has absolutely no difference that I can tell. NOTE: the KOF99 prototype rom set does NOT come with V (sound) roms, so it will all be silent...
Also, I believe decrypted roms will take up less space on your HDD. Strikers1945, KOF2000 encrypted, and KOF99 encrypted, are all large 70-80 MB rom sets, but if you find the decrypted versions, they are ~40 MB.
