It's just basicly different released versions on different dates.
Some have some adjustment in the data, no changes in the gameplay.
You can see that clearly in the capcom streetfighters games....remember that when you start the game,you see this

Well, that's the releasedate of the version 1993,november the 9th.
Same goes for neogeo games but you don't see this on the startup of a neo game.
