Welcome to the forums LDC! As for your question, a dat is never needed when dealing with neoragex. The rom files in neoragex rom zips always look like this:
title of rom_type of rom.rom
Basically they all need to look like this in order for neoragex to detect them. You'll need a program to rename the extensions from .bin to .rom if your using windows ME or XP but you can find something like this on the internet for free easily. I also sent you a message with a link to a site that has fixes for faulty roms. It's in spanish but it's pretty easy to navigate anyway.
