presonally i prefer 2003, just feels more.. complete as a game. though i do agree about the difficulty, i prefer when games have a broad range of levels since it encourages more players to see the thing through right until the very end which is not really somehting that can be easily said with kof 94 or even 99 particularly with regard to the bosses.
though i'm not the biggest fan of kof 2002. while its not a bad game, every time i play it i can't help getting the feeling that it was really rushed as it doesn't seem to have the same "love" or passion that comes across so well in other snk games like kof '98 metal slug 3, garou, and last blade. though i do see the counter argument that its really a "players" game.
as for teams of choice. it's varied over the years, i started out mainly using kyo, mai and joe (95-8) since i was new to it and very much in the shotokan groove, and still am to an extent. i then started experimenting with either: iori, athena and benimaru (with vanessa as a srtiker, 95-2001)), or ryo/takuma, daimon, and kim (98-2001). but 2003 made me swtich from all the above to: terry, billy and k'. which has worked brilliantly so far, and surpsiingly well in kof 2002. those are my favourites, as to which of those teams i use now though is pretty random.
